Registration for the symposium is now open. The organizing committee has worked hard to keep the registration costs as low as possible to help encourage in-person attendance. Early bird rates are in effect until June 1, 2022.

L’inscription au symposium est maintenant ouverte. Le comité organisateur a travaillé fort pour maintenir les coûts d’inscription aussi bas que possible afin d’encourager la participation en personne. Les taux d’inscription hâtive sont en vigueur jusqu’au 1er juin 2022.

We continue to be planning for an in-person symposium and encourage everyone to strongly consider participating in this manner. We anticipate the vast majority of the presentations to be delivered by an author speaking at the front of the room with a live audience and the ability to interact during question periods (just like in the ‘old’ days!).

That said, we recognize that a few of us will have circumstances preventing travel to Montreal. We will invite authors who will not be in Montreal to submit an MP4 version of their presentation prior to the start of the conference. These will be projected on the screen at the front of the room and played for the live audience. We are doing this to avoid technical issues that may arise from a live, remote presentation. Other attendees who choose to participate online will have an option to do so as well.

Each room’s installed computer will also be running Zoom. The presentations will be live-streamed in a Zoom call (links will be provided). If the technology works as it’s supposed to, our virtual attendees will be able to synchronously view the presentations. Presenters who are participating remotely may have the opportunity to answer questions via Zoom after their MP4 presentation has been played – again, if the technology works. The presentations will all be recorded (with presenter permission) and will be available to all conference participants after the symposium for a duration of approximately 4 weeks.

In summary, this will be an in-person symposium but we will try to accommodate some remote participation. This is not meant to be a full virtual conference or even a hybrid conference. It will be in-person, but we’ll turn on Zoom and see what happens.

Nous nous attendons à ce que la grande majorité des présentations soient données par un auteur s’exprimant à l’avant de la salle avec un public en direct et la capacité d’interagir pendant les périodes de questions.

Si la technologie fonctionne comme elle est censée le faire, nos participants virtuels pourront voir les présentations de manière synchrone. Les présentateurs qui participent à distance peuvent avoir la possibilité de répondre à des questions via Zoom après la lecture de leur présentation MP4 - encore une fois, si la technologie fonctionne. Les présentations seront toutes enregistrées (avec la permission du présentateur) et seront disponibles pour tous les participants à la conférence après le symposium pour une durée d’environ 4 semaines.

En résumé, il s’agira d’un symposium en personne, mais nous essaierons de tenir compte d’une certaine participation à distance. Il ne s’agit pas d’une conférence virtuelle complète ou même d’une conférence hybride. Ce sera en personne, mais nous allons activer Zoom et voir ce qui se passe.
